Quick Start
First-time setup, what's in the box, and how to get sound out of PartyKeys in under 60 seconds.
What's in the box?
Final box contents are being confirmed before launch — pending SKU finalization.
Standard contents typically include the PartyKeys 36-key keyboard, a USB-C charging cable, and a printed quick-start guide. The PartyStudio speaker is sold separately or as a bundle, depending on the SKU you ordered.
How do I turn on PartyKeys?
Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The keys will light up in a colorful, breathing pattern — that means PartyKeys is on and ready to pair.
To turn it off, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds again.
How do I get my first sound out of PartyKeys?
PartyKeys is a MIDI keyboard — it doesn't generate sound on its own. There are three ways:
- Tap to PartyStudio (easiest). Bring the NFC zones of PartyKeys and PartyStudio together. They connect automatically — no app needed.
- Bluetooth to the PopuMusic app. Open the app on your phone or tablet and connect from inside the app, not from your phone's Bluetooth settings.
- USB-C to a computer. Use any DAW like GarageBand, Logic Pro, Cubase, FL Studio, or Studio One.
Do I need an app to use PartyKeys?
No. With a PartyStudio speaker, just tap-to-connect via NFC and start playing. The PopuMusic app is optional — it adds guided lessons (Game & Course), sing-along mode (Play & Sing), and music creation (Freeplay).
Where do I download the PopuMusic app?
Search "PopuMusic" in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), or scan the QR code in your printed user manual.
PartyKeys Keyboard
Hardware specs, the multi-function button, lighting, charging, and connecting multiple keyboards.
How many keys does PartyKeys have?
PartyKeys has 36 keys (3 octaves) on a single board. You can magnetically connect up to 3 PartyKeys side-by-side — when paired with PartyStudio, they're treated as one continuous long keyboard.
Are the keys velocity-sensitive or weighted?
No. PartyKeys keys are unweighted and not velocity-sensitive — every press produces the same volume. This gives a consistent feel for performance and learning, and matches PartyKeys' philosophy of clarity over piano emulation.
If you need expressive dynamics for serious piano practice, an acoustic or weighted digital piano is a better fit.
Does PartyKeys support MPE, aftertouch, or pitch bend?
Not in this model. PartyKeys is built around simplicity and an integrated, learning-focused experience. Advanced expressive features like MPE and aftertouch are something we're considering for future products — feedback welcome at support@partykeys.com.
What does the multi-function button do?
The multi-function button (MFB) is the small square button next to the octave shift slider. It unlocks shortcuts so you don't have to open the app for common actions.
Press once. The black keys light up to show available shortcuts.
Hold MFB and press a black key:
- C# (left) — pair a wireless pedal
- D# (left) — enter / exit Play & Sing mode
- F# / G# / A# (left) — drum fill-in / fill-in end / cut end
- C# / D# (middle) — volume up / down
- F# / G# / A# (middle) — timbre next / default / previous
- C# / D# (right) — switch dazzling modes
- F# / G# / A# (right) — color next / default / previous
Release to return to playing.
How do I shift octaves or transpose?
Shift octave. Tap the octave shift slider left or right (next to the power button).
Transpose by semitone. Hold the multi-function button, then tap the slider left or right.
How long does the battery last and how do I charge it?
Battery. 2200 mAh. Battery life. About 8 hours of typical use.
Charging. ~1.5 hours from empty using the included USB-C cable and a 5V/2A adapter. PartyKeys supports PD fast charging and BC standard charging.
The charging indicator light glows white while charging, and turns off when full.
Can I use a fast charger?
Yes. PartyKeys supports PD fast charging at 5V/2A. Use a safety-certified adapter — off-brand or non-compliant chargers can damage the device or fail to charge it.
How do I check the battery level?
With PartyKeys turned on, briefly press the power button. The keys light up green to show battery percentage in 20% steps (20% / 40% / 60% / 80% / 100%).
When battery drops below 10%, a flashing red light appears on the left side — time to charge.
How many color themes does PartyKeys have?
Built into the keyboard. 12+ color themes you can cycle through with the MFB shortcut (hold MFB + right F# / G# / A#).
Through the PopuMusic app. 100+ colors with per-key customization, scale visualization, and atmosphere skins. Tap the lightbulb icon on the app's home screen.
How many dazzling (light show) modes are there?
6+ dazzling modes at launch, with more added in future firmware updates. Switch between them by holding MFB + right C# / D#.
Can I change the default startup color?
Yes. After PartyKeys connects to PartyStudio or the PopuMusic app, set a custom default color through the app's lighting settings (lightbulb icon). The new default is remembered the next time you turn on PartyKeys.
Can I connect multiple PartyKeys together?
Yes — up to 3 PartyKeys can be linked side-by-side using the magnetic connectors on each side.
- Place PartyKeys on a flat surface (uneven heights misalign the magnets).
- Slide them together until the magnetic connectors snap.
- Make sure all keyboards are powered on.
- Connect to PartyStudio via NFC. PartyStudio treats the chain as one long keyboard and assigns each board a different color for identification.
The keyboards aren't recognizing each other when I link them.
- The infrared sensors on the left and right sides need a clear line of sight — make sure nothing is blocking them.
- The magnetic connectors only align cleanly when both keyboards are at the same height. Use a flat, hard surface.
- All keyboards must be powered on with enough battery.
Can I use a sustain pedal?
PartyKeys supports a wireless pedal — currently in development, with a release date to be announced. Pair it by holding the multi-function button and pressing C# (left).
For wired sustain, plug a 3.5mm sustain pedal into the back of PartyStudio.
PartyStudio Speaker
The 70W hi-fi speaker with 128 instruments, 35+ drum patterns, and four ways to connect.
What is PartyStudio?
PartyStudio is a 70W RMS hi-fi Bluetooth speaker (2× 10W tweeters + 2× 25W mid-bass drivers) built specifically for PartyKeys. It contains:
- 128 built-in instruments — acoustic piano, guitars, synths, strings, brass, and more
- 35+ drum machine rhythm patterns with adjustable BPM and fill-ins
- A touchscreen with two rotary dials for hands-on control
- USB MIDI, Bluetooth MIDI, 3.5mm audio out, and NFC tap-to-connect
It also works as a regular Bluetooth speaker for streaming music from your phone.
How do I connect PartyKeys to PartyStudio?
Easiest — tap NFC. Bring the NFC zone on PartyKeys (right side of the top edge) close to the NFC zone on PartyStudio. They pair automatically.
Wired alternative. Use a double-headed USB-C cable from PartyKeys' charging port to the MIDI port on PartyStudio's back.
How long does PartyStudio's battery last?
About 8 hours of typical use, depending on volume and usage. Charging from empty takes ~3.5 hours. PartyStudio works while plugged in, so you can use it on AC power continuously for events or long sessions.
What charger does PartyStudio use?
USB-C with PD support: 15V/2A, 12V/2A, 9V/2A, or 5V/2A. We recommend a safety-certified PD adapter for the fastest charging.
How many instruments are built into PartyStudio?
128 timbres, organized into categories on the touchscreen. Browse them with the Instrument Dial — rotate to scroll, press to confirm.
How do I switch instruments?
Move the Instrument Setting Slider to the middle position (instrument selection mode), then rotate the Instrument Dial to scroll. The current selection appears on the touchscreen. Press the dial to save your favorites for quick access.
The slider has three positions:
- Top — volume
- Middle — instrument choice
- Bottom — transpose
How do I use the drum machine?
The drum machine is on the right side of PartyStudio.
- Press the Drum Machine Dial once — start the drum machine
- Press once again while playing — trigger a fill-in
- Double-press — stop the drum machine
The Drum Machine Setting Slider has three positions:
- Top — volume
- Middle — BPM (tempo)
- Bottom — rhythm pattern (35+ to choose from)
You can also trigger fill-ins from PartyKeys: hold MFB + F# (left) for fill-in, G# (left) for fill-in end, A# (left) to cut the end.
Can I plug in headphones or external speakers?
Yes. PartyStudio has a 3.5mm audio output jack on the back. Plug in headphones, a powered speaker, or a sound card.
Can I use PartyStudio as a Bluetooth speaker for music?
Yes. PartyStudio supports standard Bluetooth audio. From your phone or tablet's Bluetooth settings, pair "PartyStudio" like any other Bluetooth speaker, then stream music, podcasts, or video audio normally.
This is independent of MIDI playback from PartyKeys — the two can run at the same time.
Can I connect other MIDI keyboards (not just PartyKeys)?
Yes. PartyStudio supports any standard BLE MIDI or USB MIDI device.
- Wired. USB-C cable into the MIDI port on the back.
- Wireless. Open the Explore menu on PartyStudio's touchscreen and pair via Bluetooth MIDI.
How many MIDI devices can connect at once?
Up to 3 PartyKeys simultaneously via NFC / Bluetooth MIDI, plus 1 standard MIDI device through the wired MIDI port — for a total of 4 inputs.
When multiple PartyKeys are connected, PartyStudio assigns each a different color for identification, and treats them as one long keyboard. Press the multi-function button on any PartyKeys to take control of PartyStudio's parameters.
What does the touchscreen do?
Slide your finger along the edge of the screen to adjust overall speaker volume (clockwise = louder, counter-clockwise = softer). The center of the screen displays the current mode:
- Instrument Settings — volume, instrument list, transpose
- Drum Machine Settings — volume, BPM, rhythm pattern
- Play & Sing — chord progression, rhythm pattern
- Explore — Bluetooth pairing, settings, exploratory features
PopuMusic App
Lessons, sing-along songs, music creation tools — and how the app fits with PartyKeys.
Why is the app still called "PopuMusic" and not "PartyKeys"?
The current app is PopuMusic — it supports both PopuPiano (our previous keyboard) and the new PartyKeys lineup. We're rolling out new features over the next few releases and will rename the app to PartyKeys once it's complete.
Your account, courses, songs, and progress will carry over automatically when the rename happens.
What can the app do?
Three main features for PartyKeys users:
- Game & Course — bite-sized lessons with light-guided learning. The keys light up to show you what to play.
- Play & Sing — sing along to 400+ pop songs while PartyKeys lights up the chords for you. No music-reading required.
- Freeplay — pick from 38 sounds in the app, record up to 7 tracks, customize keyboard colors, and create your own music.
The app also includes Pop Hits (waterfall sheet music), AIGC (AI song generation), tuners, metronome, and chord library.
Is the app free?
Yes — PopuMusic is free, and there are no in-app subscriptions or paywalls. All courses and songs are included.
What devices does the app support?
- iOS. iPhone 12 or newer / iPad 8 or newer (iOS 16+)
- Android. Android 11 or newer
- Mac. M-series Macs can run the iPad version from the Mac App Store
The app currently does not support Windows tablets, Intel-based Macs, or Android emulators on PC.
Can I use the app offline?
No. The PopuMusic app needs an internet connection to load courses and song content from our servers. We're investigating offline modes for future releases.
Can I import my own songs or MIDI files?
The app supports adding chord-and-lyric data for Play & Sing mode (no melody import yet). For full MIDI playback, we recommend Synthesia, which is compatible with PartyKeys as a standard MIDI keyboard.
Can I use my own DAW (GarageBand, Logic, Cubase, FL Studio)?
Yes. PartyKeys is a standard USB MIDI keyboard and works in any DAW. Connect with a USB-C data cable (make sure the cable supports data transfer, not just charging).
Officially tested DAWs: GarageBand, Logic Pro, Cubase, FL Studio, Studio One. Other MIDI-compatible software should work as well.
How many courses are in the app?
7 chapter-based courses, designed to take a beginner from first key press to playing complete songs:
- The Basics
- Finger Skills
- Chords
- Both Hands
- Sing Along
- Piano Solo
- Advanced Keyboard
New courses and songs are added regularly. Have a request? Email support@partykeys.com.
What languages does the app support?
English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Turkish. More languages added based on demand.
Can I record audio or vocals in the app?
Freeplay records up to 7 tracks of MIDI playback through the app's built-in instruments. The app cannot record vocals (no microphone input).
To save your composition as an audio file, screen-record on your phone — the resulting MP4 will include the audio.
Troubleshooting
If something isn't working — start here.
PartyKeys won't connect via Bluetooth.
Try these in order:
- Connect through the PopuMusic app, not your phone's Bluetooth settings. Bluetooth MIDI doesn't appear in the system Bluetooth list on most phones.
- Make sure PartyKeys is on. Press the power button for 3 seconds — when keys show a colorful breathing pattern, it's ready to pair.
- Charge PartyKeys if battery is low.
- Disconnect any other Bluetooth devices (headphones, speakers) that might be holding the channel, toggle Bluetooth off and on, then retry.
- Android only. Turn on Location Services and grant the PopuMusic app location permission. Bluetooth MIDI scanning requires it.
NFC tap isn't connecting PartyKeys to PartyStudio.
- Make sure PartyKeys is powered on with battery.
- If PartyKeys is already connected to your phone via Bluetooth, disconnect first — it can only pair to one host at a time.
- Bring the NFC zones close (less than 2 cm apart) and hold steady for ~1 second.
PartyKeys won't work or lights flicker when I connect to my PC.
- USB 3.0 port. Use a USB 3.0 (blue) port on your computer. USB 2.0 sometimes can't supply stable power.
- MIDI support. Confirm your DAW or software is set up to receive MIDI from PartyKeys (in DAW settings → MIDI input devices).
- Cable check. Some USB-C cables only carry power, not data. Use the cable that came with PartyKeys, or a known data cable.
I press a key but nothing happens.
- If using PartyStudio, check the speaker is on and the touchscreen edge volume isn't muted (slide clockwise to raise).
- If using the PopuMusic app, confirm the app shows PartyKeys as connected (Bluetooth icon).
- Power-cycle PartyKeys — hold power 3 seconds to turn off, wait 5 seconds, hold 3 seconds to turn on.
- If a single specific key is silent, see the next question.
One specific key isn't producing sound.
Power-cycle PartyKeys first. If the key still doesn't respond — and other keys do — it's likely a hardware defect.
Email support@partykeys.com with:
- Your order number
- A short video showing the silent key
We'll arrange a free replacement under warranty within 1 business day.
There's no sound coming out of PartyStudio.
- Slide along the touchscreen edge clockwise to raise volume.
- Check whether something is plugged into the 3.5mm audio output jack — if so, sound routes to that device instead of PartyStudio's speakers.
- Make sure PartyKeys is connected (NFC tap or Bluetooth) and an instrument is selected.
My phone's Bluetooth can't find PartyStudio.
PartyStudio may already be paired to another device. Open the Explore menu on PartyStudio's touchscreen, disable auto-connection or manually disconnect the other device, then retry pairing from your phone.
There's a noticeable lag between key press and sound (Android).
Bluetooth MIDI latency varies by device and Android version:
- Well-optimized phones: 50–80ms (imperceptible to most listeners)
- Less-optimized phones: up to 200ms (noticeable)
For the lowest latency, connect PartyKeys with a USB-C cable instead of Bluetooth — wired latency is ~20ms. Or use PartyStudio (NFC connection), which is also very low latency.
I notice slight lag on iOS / iPad.
iOS Bluetooth MIDI latency is typically very low (~50ms) and most users don't notice. If you do:
- Switch to a USB-C wired connection.
- Make sure no other Bluetooth devices are competing (close apps using Bluetooth in the background).
- Restart the PopuMusic app.
How do I reset PartyKeys if it stops responding?
Long-press the power button for 15 seconds to force a reset. If PartyKeys still doesn't respond, charge for at least 30 minutes (the battery may be fully drained — at very low levels it won't power on instantly even when plugged in), then try again.
Still stuck? Email support@partykeys.com.
PartyKeys isn't charging.
- Confirm your adapter is 5V/2A (or higher PD) and safety-certified. Voltages lower than 5V won't charge PartyKeys.
- Try a different USB-C cable — some cables are charge-only and don't fit our charging spec.
- Test the adapter with another device (like your phone) to confirm it's working.
- If the charging indicator behaves erratically, force-reset by holding the power button for 15 seconds.
Device Compatibility
Whether your phone, tablet, or computer works with PartyKeys.
What phones and tablets are supported?
- iOS. iPhone 12 or newer, iPad 8 or newer, running iOS 16 or later
- Android. Android 11 or later (most flagship phones from 2020 onward)
- Mac. M-series Macs can install the iPad version from the Mac App Store
Bluetooth 4.0 BLE is required. Devices that don't support BLE MIDI can still use PartyKeys via USB-C cable.
My phone is older than the supported list. Can I still use PartyKeys?
Yes. PartyKeys is a standard USB MIDI keyboard — connect it to a Mac or Windows computer with a USB-C data cable and use any DAW. Officially tested:
- GarageBand (Mac, free)
- Logic Pro (Mac)
- Cubase
- FL Studio
- Studio One
You can also pair PartyKeys with PartyStudio via NFC for app-free playing.
Is there a Windows version of the PopuMusic app?
Not yet. The PopuMusic app currently runs on iOS, iPadOS, Android, and M-series Mac.
For Windows users, PartyKeys works as a USB MIDI controller in any Windows DAW — that's the recommended path.
Will the app work on Amazon Fire / Pixel / less common Android tablets?
Theoretically any Android device running Android 11+ should work, but we haven't tested every model. Email support@partykeys.com with your tablet's exact model and we'll check our compatibility list.
Can I use an Android emulator on my PC?
Unfortunately no. Android emulators on PC don't relay MIDI signals correctly, so the app can't communicate with PartyKeys through them. Use a real Android device, an iOS device, or a Mac with M-series chip.
Warranty & Returns
1-year warranty, 7-day no-reason returns, and how to request service.
What's the warranty period?

7-day no-reason returns for unused or like-new products. After 7 days, returns are evaluated case-by-case (we're flexible — just reach out).
Email support@partykeys.com with your order number to start.
Who pays for return shipping?
- Manufacturing defects within warranty. We cover return shipping and send a replacement.
- Buyer's-remorse / no-reason returns. Buyer pays return shipping.
Where do I ship a return to?
Email us first at support@partykeys.com — return addresses vary by region (US, EU, Asia). Don't ship without a return authorization; un-coordinated returns can get lost in transit.
The package arrived damaged.
If you can refuse delivery. Refuse to sign and ask the carrier to return the package to sender. Contact us with photos.
If you've already signed. Still contact us with photos of the damage (box and product) within 24 hours. We'll handle the carrier claim and ship a replacement.
Don't sign as "received in good condition" without inspecting — if you sign and find damage later, the carrier may refuse the claim.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping times by region are being finalized — will update on launch. Estimated: US 3–7 business days, EU 5–10 business days, rest of world 7–14 business days.
Account & Login
Password resets, email changes, and account recovery.
I can't log into the app.
- Try "Forgot Password" in the app to reset.
- If you don't receive the verification email within 5 minutes, check spam folders.
- Still stuck? Email support@partykeys.com with your registered email and a screenshot of your account ID (tap your avatar inside the app to find it).
We respond within 24 hours.
I reinstalled the app and lost my courses and progress.
Your progress is tied to your account, not the device. Sign in with the same email or Facebook account, and your courses, progress, and atmosphere skins will sync back.
If you sign in and they're still missing, email us with your account ID and we'll restore them.
How do I change my email address?
In the app, tap your avatar → Edit Profile → Change Email. Follow the verification steps.
Can multiple accounts share one PartyKeys?
Yes. PartyKeys is a hardware MIDI device — anyone can pair it to their phone. Each user's app account stores their own progress, courses, and unlocks separately.
For PopuPiano Owners
If you own PopuPiano, here's how PartyKeys differs and what carries over.
I own a PopuPiano. Should I upgrade to PartyKeys?
Two big reasons to upgrade:
- Self-contained sound. PartyKeys + PartyStudio gives you a 70W hi-fi speaker with 128 instruments and 35+ drum patterns built in — no app or laptop required to play. Just tap to connect via NFC and you're playing.
- Cleaner hardware design. A single 36-key board with magnetic side connectors (up to 3 boards), instead of 29 keys + ChordPad + extension. The ChordPad's chord shortcuts are now built into Play & Sing mode and the multi-function button.
Reasons to keep PopuPiano. If you love the ChordPad's tactile chord strips, or your workflow depends on PopuSound's 10 instruments — PopuPiano still works great. The PopuMusic app continues to support both.
Will the PopuMusic app work with PartyKeys?
Yes — the same PopuMusic app supports both PopuPiano and PartyKeys. Switch between them in the "Select Instrument" screen on the app's home page.
Your account, courses, and progress are shared across both keyboards.
Is my PopuSound speaker compatible with PartyKeys?
No. PopuSound was designed specifically for PopuPiano with its own protocol and 10 built-in sounds. PartyKeys uses NFC + USB MIDI to communicate with PartyStudio, which has 128 instruments and a different sound engine. The two systems aren't cross-compatible.
I have a PopuPiano question — where do I get support?
For PopuPiano specifically, the legacy support email support@popumusic.com still works. We're consolidating all customer support to support@partykeys.com — emails to either address reach the same team.
